Polanco, Dilger lead Marauders to 1-1 draw at CSP to conclude unbeaten weekend

ST. PAUL, MN – Impact freshman Dina Polanco displayed her impressive scoring touch once again in another clutch moment as the University of Mary earned a 1-1 draw at Concordia-St. Paul. The tie was the second of the weekend for the Marauders who were on their first Northern Sun road trip of the weekend.

Down a goal after the Golden Bears scored in the 54th minute of play, Marauders Kadyn Dilger came up with a big diving save in the 69th minute to keep UMary within striking distance.

Minutes later with UMary on the attack, Maggie Bono played a header back to Polanco in the penalty arc. Immediately going into attack mode, Polanco took a couple touches towards the net before unleashing a withering shot into the upper right corner from 15 yards out at 75:01, knotting the match at 1-1.

The goal was the team-leading fourth this season for Polanco.

UMary made another run in the 85th minute with a trio of shots that never made it on net, including a Polanco shot that rolled past the right post.

The Marauders (2-3-2 overall, 0-2-2 NSIC) also gained a point in the NSIC standings on Friday with a 0-0 draw at Winona State University.

Concordia-St. Paul (5-1-1, 2-1-1) held the edge in shots (17-13), shots on frame (7-2) and corner kicks (5-2).

UMary continues its four-game road trip with stops next weekend at Bemidji State University (October 3) and the University of Minnesota Duluth (October 5).
