MANKATO, MN – The University of Mary volleyball team (3-6, 0-1 Northern Sun) opened conference play in a 3-0 road defeat (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) to Minnesota State University, Mankato (9-0, 1-0 NSIC).
UMary recorded 25 kills on a .111 hitting percentage while MSU posted 45 kills on a .378 attack percenatge. The Marauders had 24 assists and one ace compared to the Mavericks, who had 39 assists and 10 aces.
The first set saw MSU hold a 9-8 lead before the Mavericks went on a 16-7 run to win 25-15. The score was tied at 10-10 in the second set before MSU took control and won 25-16.
The Marauders battled hard in the final set, but a 7-1 Mavericks run secured a 25-16 win and match victory.

Dani Highum had a team-high nine kills on a .273 attack percentage.
Maddy Freed and
Natalie Boehmer both dished out 11 assists.
Judith Burke led the team with seven digs while also contributing seven kills and two blocks.
Gabby Caskey and
Holli Klettheimer recorded two blocks.
