BURNSVILLE, MN – Coming off a strong performance at the NSIC Championships, University of Mary men's golf junior
Evan Booth was named the team's NSIC Athlete to Watch. The Marauders were picked to finish 9
th in the conference in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Booth took home an individual victory in the dual against Minot State and led the team at the NSIC Championships with a great score of two strokes over par. His sixth-place individual finish was the best for a Marauder in 18 years.
"Evan had a successful Conference Tournament last April at Adams Point," said head coach Laif Olson. "He finished one stroke off of the Conference Championship All-Tournament Team. This summer Evan has played very well in area tournaments. I am looking forward to a big fall for Evan."
The team's top player from last season,
Gavin Argent, is now an assistant coach. He is the only top-5 player from last year's team that will not be competing with the current squad.
"We only graduated one student athlete who made our top 5 traveling team," said Olson. "And we are bringing in five new freshmen who come with great credentials. My guys have all been playing well this summer in area tournaments. Fall 2026 will be a big season for the Marauders!"
UMary's sixth-place finish at the NSIC Championships was the best for the team since 2007.
The season begins on the road for the Marauders at the Bemidji State Invite on Sept. 8 and 9. UMary will host the Marauders Tournament on Sept. 29 and 30 at Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck, ND.
