Carmichael climbs to top 10, UMary women’s golf 9th at Augustana Invitational

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of Mary women's golf team took part in their final tune-up before the NSIC Championship, finishing 9th at the Augustana Invitational at Elmwood Golf Course. Junior Carrie Carmichael placed 9th individually, her fifth top-10 finish of the season.

The Marauders were consistent on both days, with a 347 (+59) in round 1 and a 345 (+57) in round 2. The team remained in 9th on both days.

Carmichael was in 17th after the first 18 holes of play, shooting an 82 (+10). Her improved day 2, in which she shot a 78 (+6), allowed her to jump eight spots in the standings to secure a 9th-place finish. Carmichael had a pair of birdies in round 1 to highlight her trip to South Dakota.

Annie Neva led the Marauders after round 1 with an 81 (+9), but her 87 (+15) on Tuesday landed her in 27th. Grace Stroh was in 51st with a 181 (+37). Ruby Heydt rounded out the team scoring with 183 (+39) in 56th place.

Up next for the Marauders will be the NSIC Championship in nine days. The tournament will be held from Apr. 17 to 19 at the Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, MO.
