SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of Mary men's golf team had a strong outing to close out the regular season at the Augustana Invitational, placing 5
th out of 10 teams.
Gavin Argent earned his second top-5 finish in a row, placing 3
rd. Freshman
Quinn Breidenbach had the best outing of his young career with a 5
th place finish.
The Marauders were in 3
rd place after round 1, but fell two spots on Tuesday after shooting a 303 (+15) as a team. There were several strong individual performances with three Marauders in the top-15.
Gavin Argent was stellar with a 3
rd-place finish. The senior shot a 71 (-1) in round 1 and followed up with a 73 (+1) in round 2 to finish with an even-par 144. There were seven birdies on his scorecard across the two rounds. Argent now has five top-5 finishes dating back to the fall season.
Quinn Breidenbach, who was on the B team, had his best performance of the season. The freshman shot an even-par 72 on day 1, which was good enough for 5
th. He held his ground on the second day with a 73 (+1) for an overall 145 (+1). He tallied three birdies and an eagle in his two rounds of golf.
Beyond Argent on the A team,
Evan Booth finished 12
th with a 149 (+5).
Lucas Greenlun was 34
th with a 156 (+12).
Lucas Schoepp rounded out the team scoring in 38
th with a 158 (+14).
On neither the A or B teams, Bismarck senior
Kade Rohlfs was in 22
nd with a 152 (+8).
Kristian Knodel (154, +10) and Hunter Lien (155, +11) finished 28
th and 29
th, respectively, in strong performances for the B team.
