BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary tennis team (1-1) picked up their first victory of the season in their home opener, winning 4-3 over Winona State University (3-2). Head coach
Erik Porter picked up the first win of his career.
The match opened with the Marauders winning 2-1 in doubles competition, giving them one team point.
Chloe Chong Zhi Jing and
Ilona Freitag defeated Lainy Ristau and Halle Rosentreter 6-3 in #1 doubles.
Maria Estinvil and
Anna Sueflohn won 6-3 in #2 doubles over Skylar Gary and Alexendra Madjun.
Valeria Bradley and
Luba Moyo fell 6-3 in #3 doubles to Ally Burger and Clara Toemke.
Chloe Chong Zhi Jing was spectacular in #1 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Lainy Ristau.
Ilona Freitag grabbed an impressive victory in #2 singles, defeating Skylar Gary 6-4, 6-2.
Maria Estinvil picked up the Marauder's match-winning point, winning #3 singles 6-1, 6-4 over Miranda Daulong.
Anna Sueflohn fell 6-4, 6-2 to Clara Toemke in #4 singles.
The matchup at #5 singles saw
Valeria Bradley lose a close contest 7-6, 3-6, 10-4 to Ally Burger.
Luba Moyo would fall short in a tight matchup in #6 singles, falling 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 to Nikita Agrawal.
