Kinnebrew drops 29 on Bulldogs as Marauders fall to NSIC leaders

DULUTH, MN – Continuing to pile up big game after big game, Bergan Kinnebrew scored every way possible as the junior guard tallied 29 points for the University of Mary women's basketball team at the University of Minnesota Duluth. A sluggish start to the road game for the Marauders derailed UMary's hopes of joining UMD atop the Northern Sun North Division as the Marauders dropped an 80-65 decision to the Bulldogs.

In the final Northern Sun game of 2025, the Marauders slip to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC. The Bulldogs improve to 9-2 overall and 7-0 in the NSIC. UMary is 2nd in the NSIC North and 5th in the NSIC overall. UMD leads both the NSIC North and the NSIC.

The Bulldogs came out on fire, making 13-of-18 shots in the first quarter to build a 29-13 as the Marauders hit just 5-of-17 shots. UMary's shooting woes carried over to the second quarter with a 3-for-13 effort. UMD shot over 60% in the second and entered intermission leading 52-28.

The Marauders found a spark in the third quarter. Draining six treys, including three by Kinnebrew, UMary used a 21-4 run to close within 64-54 when Allison Undlin nailed a 3-pointer. The 10-point deficit was as close as the Marauders would come as the Bulldogs maintained a lead of at least 11 points the remainder of the game.

Kinnebrew, the leading scorer in the NSIC at 23.9 points/game, went 11-of-12 at the free throw line, hit 3-of-5 treys and made 8-of-17 shots overall. She just missed a double double with nine rebounds and added three assists.

The junior guard from Bismarck, ND, has scored at least 20 points in 11 of the 13 games she has played this season. This was the fourth time she has hit for at least 29 points.

Undlin added 12 points and six rebounds.

Lexi Karge paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and seven rebounds. She made 8-of-12 shots as the Bulldogs outshot the Marauders 47.9% to 38.6% and outscored UMary in the paint 60-26. UMD also turned a +10 turnover edge into a 24-11 scoring advantage in points off turnovers.

The Marauders return to action with a New Years Eve home matinee when UMary hosts Bismarck State College on December 31 at 3 pm at the McDowell Activity Center. Tickets are available online at www.UMaryTickets.com.
