Total team effort sees Marauders down Mystics 100-59 at home

BISMARCK, ND – It was an impressive team effort by the University of Mary women's basketball team on New Year's Eve as UMary defeated Bismarck State 100-59 at home. The last time the Marauders scored 100 points was against Presentation College in 2019, where UMary won 110-52.

UMary (12-4, 5-2 NSIC) shot 34-of-67 (50.7%) from the field and 8-of-22 (36.4%) from three, while BSC (1-10) went 22-of-70 (31.4%) from the floor and 8-of-41 (19.5%) from behind the arc. The Marauders shot 24-of-31 (77.4%) from the charity stripe, while the Mystics went 7-of-21 (33.3%) from the free-throw line.

Chloe Pfau led all scorers, posting 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three. Pfau also contributed six rebounds and three assists. Allison Undlin recorded 14 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor.

Eden Fridley dished out a career-high nine assists. Bergan Kinnebrew had 12 points and five rebounds. Anna Lenzen added nine points and four rebounds.

Chloe Nuss had 11 points off the bench in only nine minutes of action, shooting 3-of-3 from behind the arc. Chloe Netzinger provided a spark for the Marauders, putting up eight points and five rebounds. Tory Jennissen posted seven points and five rebounds.

Emily Jaenke had six points and five rebounds. Cassie Erickson provided four points and four rebounds. Grace Richardson dished out five dimes and scored four points.

UMary opened the game on fire on offense, shooting 60% from the field to take a 26-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Marauders extended their lead to 52-30 going into halftime.

The offense continued to roll in the third quarter for UMary as the Marauders outscored the Mystics 29-10 to hold an 81-40 advantage heading into the final quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Marauders cruise to a 100-59 win.

UMary dominated the glass, outrebounding BSC 57-35. The Marauders committed 12 turnovers, while the Mystics gave the ball away nine times.

The Marauders travel to Minot, ND, to take on in-state rivals Minot State University on Saturday, January 3, at 7:30 pm.
