BEMIDJI, MN – The University of Mary women's basketball team exploded for a season-high 93 points to defeat Bemidji State University 93-77 on the road. The Marauders had a season-best five athletes score double figures against the Beavers.
UMary (11-3, 5-1 Northern Sun) shot 23-of-57 (56.1%) from the floor and 11-of-19 (57.9%) from behind the arc, while BSU (6-4, 3-3 NSIC) went 25-of-61 (41%) from the field and 9-of-24 (37.5%) from three. The Marauders shot 18-of-23 (78.3%) from the charity stripe, while the Beavers went 18-of-22 (81.8%) from the free-throw line.
Bergan Kinnebrew scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, shooting 5-of-11 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Allison Undlin recorded her fourth double-double of the season, posting 16 points and ten rebounds in only 20 minutes of action.
Emily Jaenke continues her hot shooting off the bench, scoring 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three. Jaenke is shooting an NSIC-best 52.5% from behind the arc.
Cassie Erickson had 11 points and four rebounds off the bench, shooting 5-of-7 from the field.
Eden Fridley put up 12 points on a perfect 2-of-2 shooting from behind the arc.
Chloe Pfau had nine points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Anna Lenzen recorded eight points and four rebounds.
The Marauders fell behind 10-4 early in the first quarter but rallied to finish with a 21-19 lead at the end of the quarter. An 8-0 run by the Marauders late in the second quarter saw UMary take a 48-41 lead heading into halftime.
The Marauders outscored the Beavers 25-14 in the third quarter to hold a 73-55 advantage. BSU attempted a comeback but never got the UMary lead under double digits as the Marauders cruised to a 93-77 victory.
UMary dominated the glass, winning the rebounding battle 36-20 over BSU. The Marauders committed 17 turnovers, while the Beavers gave the ball away eight times.
The Marauders head to Duluth, MN, to compete against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, December 20, at 3:30 pm.
