BEMIDJI, MN – The University of Mary men's basketball team connected for a season-best 15 3-pointers but a big night in the paint for Bemidji State University pushed the Beavers past the Marauders 89-77.
UMary finished the game by making 15 treys in 40 tries with eight different Marauders hitting from behind the arc.
Kelton Coleman nailed three of his five three-point attempts while
Noah Thomas also hit three triples. Bemidji State, who leads the NSIC in 3-point shooting percentage at 41%, made just 8-of-25 treys (32%).
The Marauders were unable to match the overall proficiency of the Beavers. Bemidji State outscored UMary 44-22 in the paint while shooting 53.8% from the floor overall and making 27-of-40 shots (67.5%) from inside the arc. The Marauders made 41.3% of their shots overall and 11-of-23 (47.8%) inside the arc.
The first half was a game of runs. Bemidji State raced out to an 18-6 lead before a 32-15 run by UMary gave the Marauders their biggest lead of the game at 38-33. The Beavers then ripped off the next 12 points to enter halftime leading 45-38 and never trailed again.

Parker Brodina keyed a 12-2 UMary run to close within 83-75. A 4-point play by John Pecarich halted the Marauders run and pushed the BSU lead back into double digits for the rest of the game.
Cayden Redfield led UMary with 12 points as he made 5-of-8 shots. He also had five rebounds. Coleman and
Andre Austin both had 11 points. Bois hit two treys and snared eight rebounds.
Pecarich led the Beavers with 33 points. He had four treys and three assists and three steals. Henry Shannon III added 12 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Marauders close out the road trip at the University of Minnesota Duluth with a 1:30 pm game on Saturday, December 20.
