BISMARCK, ND – Monster performances by
Bergan Kinnebrew and
Allison Undlin helped lead the University of Mary women's basketball team (10-3, 4-1 NSIC) to an impressive 84-78 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead (4-5, 1-4 NSIC) at home.
Bergan Kinnebrew led the team in points and assists, recording 26 points and eight assists, to go along with six rebounds.
Allison Undlin brought down a career-high 16 rebounds, while also posting 20 points and four blocks. Undlin made a career-best four treys, shooting 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
Eden Fridley had nine points and four assists, shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from three.
Anna Lenzen put up ten points coming off the bench.
Emily Jaenke had eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field.
The Marauders offense came out on fire in the first quarter, shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from three to take a 22-17 lead. The Dragons responded by taking a 40-34 lead with just over a minute remaining. UMary went on a 6-0 run in the last 46 seconds of the half to tie the game at 40.
The game remained tightly contested in the third quarter as the score would be tied at 57 heading into the fourth quarter. The Marauders would catch fire from three in the final quarter, shooting 6-of-10 from behind the arc. UMary would outscore MSUM 27-21 to take an 84-78 victory.
UMary shot 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the field and 13-of-23 (56.5%) from three, while MSUM went 28-of-70 (40%) from the floor and 8-of-17 (47.1%) from behind the arc. The Marauders shot 19-of-15 (76%) from the charity stripe, while the Dragons went 14-of-20 (70%) from the free-throw line.
UMary won the rebounding 40-36 over MSUM. The Marauders committed 14 turnovers, while the Dragons gave the ball away seven times.
The Marauders travel to Bemidji, MN, to challenge Bemidji State University on Thursday, December 18, at 7:30 pm.
