BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's basketball team remains undefeated as the Marauders took down Dickinson State University 81-54 in their home opener.
UMary (6-0) shot 27-of-60 (45%) from the field and 12-of-25 (48%) from behind the arc, while DSU went 17-of-52 (32.7%) from the floor and 8-of-17 (47.1%) from three. The Marauder shot 15-of-24 (62.5%) from the field, while the Blue Hawks went 12-of-17 (70.6%) from the charity stripe.
Bergan Kinnebrew scored 22 points and six rebounds in 21 minutes, going 6-of-8 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
Allison Undlin posted 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
Emily Jaenke continued her hot shooting, dropping 15 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting from three.
Chloe Nuss had seven points off the bench, including a half-court buzzer beater to end the first quarter.
Both offenses got off to a good start, but UMary would hold a 28-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Marauders extend their lead to 54-37 going into halftime.
The UMary defense stifled DSU in the second half, holding the Blue Hawks to 17 points. The Marauders would cruise to an 81-54 victory after outscoring DSU 27-17 in the second half.
UMary won the rebounding battle 40-31 over DSU. The Marauders forced the Blue Hawks into 19 turnovers, while committing 11 of their own.
The Marauders return home to host their conference game of the season against Minot State University on Tuesday, November 25, at 5:30 pm in the McDowell Activity Center.
