Marauders fall to #22 Wolves

ABERDEEN, SD – Double-digit kills for Judith Burke and Dani Highum were not enough as the University of Mary volleyball team was defeated in three sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) to #22 Northern State University.

UMary (5-13, 2-8 Northern Sun) recorded 33 kills on a .146 hitting percentage, while NSU (14-4, 6-4 NSIC) posted 43 kills on a .207 attack percentage. The Marauders had 31 assists and zero aces, while the Wolves had 41 assists and seven aces. UMary had eight blocks and NSU had five.

Burke recorded her 219th kill this season, which surpasses the Marauders leader in kills (209) from last season.

The Wolves grabbed a 14-4 lead in the first set and did not look back, winning 25-11. The Marauders performed better in the second set as they earned a 17-15 lead. NSU won ten of the next 12 points to win 25-19.

The third set saw the Wolves hold a 19-18 lead over the Marauders. NSU went on a 6-0 run to claim the set and the match.

Judith Burke led the team in kills (10) and digs (7).

Dani Highum had ten kills on a .241 hitting percentage.

Myra Newman had five kills and two blocks.

Maddy Freed had 18 assists and six digs.

Natalie Boehmer dished out 11 assists and had four digs.

Gabby Caskey had four kills and three digs.

Holli Klettheimer had three blocks.
