Marauders defeated in four sets by Jimmies

BISMARCK, ND – A hard-fought match ended in defeat for the University of Mary volleyball team as the Marauders fell in four sets (24-26, 25-17, 28-26, 25-18) to the University of Jamestown.

UMary (5-14, 2-9 Northern Sun) posted 53 kills on a .182 hitting percentage, while UJ (9-9, 4-7 NSIC) recorded 55 kills on a .254 attack percentage. The Marauders had 50 assists and eight aces, while the Wolves had 53 assists and 11 aces. UMary had seven blocks and UJ had ten.

The Marauders rallied to come back and win the first set after trailing 19-13. UMary went on two 4-0 runs to tie the score at 21-21. A kill by Dani Highum would be followed by two straight aces by Highum to secure the Marauders a 26-24 win.

The Jimmies went on an 8-2 run to win the second set 25-17. The third set was an exciting back-and-forth affair that ended in a UJ 26-24 win. UMary held a 26-25 lead and served for set point, but the Jimmies rallied to win the next three points.

UJ controlled the fourth set, winning 25-18.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Holli Klettheimer led the team with 13 kills on a .348 hitting percentage and six blocks.

Judith Burke recorded 13 kills, 14 digs and three aces.

Myra Newman had 10 kills on a .450 attack percentage

Dani Highum had 11 kills, 13 digs and four aces.

Maddy Freed dished out 28 assists and had ten digs.

Natalie Boehmer posted 19 assists.

Chloe Solheid had nine digs.

The Marauders stay home to host the in-state rivals, Minot State University, on Tuesday, October 21, at 6 pm in the McDowell Activity Center.
