BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary volleyball team surpassed their win total from last season after the Marauders dominant attack led UMary to a four set victory (25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19) over the University of Minnesota Crookston.
UMary (5-11, 2-6 Northern Sun) posted 56 kills and 11 errors on a .321 attack percentage, while UMC (6-10, 0-8 NSIC) recorded 59 kills and 23 errors on a .235 attack percentage. The Marauders had 53 assists and seven aces, while the Golden Eagles had 53 assists and two aces.

Judith Burke and
Dani Highum each had double-digit kills. Freshman
Myra Newman made her first career start and had nine kills on a .300 attack percentage.
The Marauders jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set and never relinquished it as an attack error by the Golden Eagles secured the win 25-21.
History would repeat itself in the second set as UMary would again jump out to a 7-1 lead. The Marauders cruised to a 25-16 win, capped off when
Judith Burke delivered the set-clinching kill after an assist from
Maddy Freed.
UMC managed to get off to a good start in the third set and held off a late UMary rally to win 25-22.
A 6-0 run proved to be the difference in the fourth and final set for the Marauders. UMary would win 25-19 as the match ended when the Golden Eagles attack went into the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Holli Klettheimer had 12 kills on a remarkable .688 hitting percentage. Klettheimer also has a team-best six blocks.
Judith Burke recorded a team-high 16 kills on a .245 attack percentage to go along with seven digs.
Dani Highum posted 14 kills on a remarkable .560 hitting percentage. Highum also had a team-high 11 digs.
Maddy Freed had a season-high 45 assists and ten digs.
Katie Bleeker led the Marauders in digs with 17.
Myra Newman had nine kills and four blocks in her second career collegiate match.
Gabby Caskey had four kills and three blocks.
Chloe Solheid had ten digs.
