BISMARCK, ND – Despite a strong start, the #11 University of Mary wrestling team (1-2, 1-2 NSIC) would fall 21-19 in an exciting dual against Minnesota State University, Mankato (5-1, 2-0 NSIC).

The dual opened at 174 pounds as Dante Roggio picked up a 5-3 decision victory over Evan Farley to give UMary a 3-0 lead.

Matthew Kaylor was dominant at 197 pounds as he defeated Jesus Gonzalez by a 15-0 tech fall after 2:21 of action. Luke Tweeton (285 pounds) grinded out a 5-0 decision victory over Callen Smithpeter to extend the Marauders lead to 11-0.

Following a major decision victory for MSU at 125 pounds, #3 Reece Barnhardt (133 pounds) showcased his dominance in an 18-3 tech fall win over Chase Beckett.

The Mavericks picked up a pinfall victory at 141 pounds and a major decision win at 149 pounds. Lane Ewing won at 157 pounds by earning an impressive 6-1 decision over #12 Caleb Meunier to increase the UMary lead to 19-14.

The lead was cut to 19-18 following a major decision win for the Mavericks at 165 pounds. Leo Mushinsky wrestled tough but fell short in a 6-3 decision loss to #13 Drake Hayward, which gave MSU a 21-19 dual victory.

The Marauders head out to Cedar Falls, IA, to take part in the NWCA Division II National Duals beginning on Friday,  at 10 am.
