BISMARCK, ND – It was raining threes for the University of Mary women's basketball team (8-4, 5-3 Northern Sun) as the Marauders took down Winona State University (7-8, 3-6 NSIC) 69-48.
Bergan Kinnebrew led the team in scoring with 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the arc while also dropping four assists.
Anna Lenzen scored a career-high 13 points off the bench, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from three.
Eden Fridley dished out six assists while scoring nine points as she knocked three treys.
Chloe Pfau was active on defense, grabbing five steals and six rebounds while posting nine points.
Ava Interrante had eight points off the bench, going 3-of-5 from the floor.
UMary jumped out to a 24-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, as the team shot 6-of-7 from three. The Marauders extended their lead to 43-27 going into halftime.
WSU outscored UMary by four points in the third quarter to reduce the lead to 53-40. The Marauders defense stifled the Warriors offense in the fourth quarter, holding WSU to 3-of-16 shooting from the field. The Marauders outscored the Warriors 16-8 in the final quarter to earn a 69-48 victory.
UMary shot 42.1 percent from the field and 13-of-29 from three, while WSU recorded a 32.8 shooting percentage and shot 8-of-29 from behind the arc. The Marauders went 8-of-9 from the free throw line, while the Warriors shot 2-of-5 from the charity stripe. UMary outrebounded WSU 38-33.
The Marauders hit the road to challenge Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, on Friday, January 10, at 5:30 pm.
