BISMARCK, ND –
Bergan Kinnebrew dropped a career-high 26 points as the University of Mary women's basketball team (10-7, 7-6 NSIC) picked up a 71-59 victory over the University of Minnesota Duluth (7-11, 5-8 NSIC).
Kinnebrew shot 8-of-14 from the field, 3-of-4 from three, and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. The Bismarck, ND, native also recorded four rebounds and two blocks.
Chloe Pfau scored 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc. Pfau also grabbed five rebounds and three steals.
Moriku Hakim had eight points and six rebounds off the bench.
The first quarter was back-and-forth, with the Marauders scoring the last four points to take a 17-14 lead. Pfau and Kinnebrew combined for 17 points in the second quarter to help UMary take a 38-27 lead going into halftime.
The Marauders lead reached 18 in the third quarter before the Bulldogs cut it back to 55-43, heading into the final quarter. UMary kept control in the fourth quarter to earn a 71-59 victory.
UMary shot 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor and 10-of-17 (58.8%) from behind the arc, while UMD went 23-of-61 (37.7%) from the field and 5-of-15 (33.3%) from three.
The Marauders shot 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the charity stripe, while the Bulldogs went 8-of-9 (88.9%) from the free-throw line. UMary got outrebounded 38-32 by UMD but won the turnover battle 17-14.
The Marauders stay at the McDowell Activity Center to host #22 Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday, January 25, at 5:30 pm.
