CEDAR FALLS, IA – The #11 University of Mary wrestling team placed 8^th at the NWCA National Duals after falling 20-17 to #12 Grand Valley State University in the consolation semifinals and 30-10 to Augustana University in the 7^th place match.

The Marauders finished the tournament with a 2-3 record overall. UMary went 2-1 at the NWCA National Duals on Friday, winning 22-14 over #14 University of Central Missouri and 30-20 to #9 Tiffin University.

The Marauders record now stands at 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the Northern Sun.

Reece Barnhardt shined at the National Duals, winning all four of his matches and defeating three nationally ranked opponents.

UMary jumped out to a big 17-4 lead over GVSU, but the Lakers would rally to take down the last four matches to win 20-17 in the consolation semifinals.

Mason Gutenberger opened the dual with an impressive win at 125 pounds, defeating Orion Wilson by a 9-1 major decision.

#3 Reece Barnhardt (133 pounds) picked up his fourth win at the NWCA National Duals by defeating #8 Jak Keller by an 8-2 decision.

Owen Lonski made his dual debut at 141 pounds, defeating Eran Marx via a 13-6 decision.

Following a pinfall victory for the Lakers at 149 pounds, Lane Ewing (157 pounds) shut out Maddox Simcoe to win by a 12-0 major decision.

Kaden Renner won a hard-fought battle at 165 pounds to defeat Maclain Morency by a 10-8 decision.

The Lakers were docked two team points due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

Jose Reyes was excellent at 285 pounds, pinning Max Balow after 6:34 minutes of action.
 
Chase Milligan won his first dual match of the season at 133 pounds after he earned a 10-1 major decision over Braiden Kort.
 
Trae Thilmony gave a valiant effort at 149 pounds as he fell by an 11-9 decision to #2 Cael Larson.
