MINOT, ND – University of Mary men's golf sophomore
Evan Booth had his best round of the season today, shooting a 68 (-4) to earn the top score at the Marauders' stroke play dual against Minot State University. The rest of the team followed his lead at the Vardon Golf Club in Minot, ND, as 7 of the top 10 spots in the standings were held by UMary golfers.
Booth's round was highlighted by 6 birdies, 4 of them coming on the back 9. Behind him in 4
th place was sophomore
Dawson Melbo, who shot a 70 (-2). Coming in at an even par 72 were both junior transfer
Lucas Greenlun and senior captain
Gavin Argent to tie for 5th. Sophomore
Aiden Knodel was one stroke behind with a 73 (+1) in 8
th. Rounding out the top 10 were freshmen
Quinn Breidenbach and
Lucas Schoepp, who both shot a 74 (+2) to tie for 9
th.
Everything clicked for the Marauders today. It was the best round of the season for Booth, Melbo, Greenlun, Knodel, and Schoepp. Outside the top 10 but still having his best round was
Kade Rohlfs (75, +3) in 11
th.
It was as good of a tune-up as you could ask for heading into Monday and Tuesday's Marauders Invitational at Hawktree Golf Club in Bismarck, ND. UMary will be hosting Northern Sun foes Minot State and Augustana University among other non-conference opponents for the two-day tournament.
