UMary men’s golf to play Minot State in road dual on Friday

MINOT, ND – As the University of Mary men's golf team gears up for next week's Marauders Invitational, one more round of golf has been added to the schedule. Yesterday, Minot State University announced that a dual with UMary will take place on Friday, Sept. 27, with action beginning at 10:00 am.

Minot State, who will be participating in Monday and Tuesday's Marauders Invitational, has garnered plenty of respect from third-year head coach Laif Olson with their play this year.

"They've really been playing well," said Olson. "Minot State did a nice job recruiting this summer. They've got four new guys from Canada that have changed their program. They're just really playing well."

The trend for UMary this season has been strong second rounds. Day 2 scores for the Marauders this year are an average of nearly 12 strokes lower than their first rounds. On Friday, one round of golf will be played against the Beavers.

The Marauders have been led by senior captain Gavin Argent, who has two top-10 finishes this season. His 67 (-5) in the second round of the Watkins Invitational earlier this week helped propel him to third place at the event.

Tee time for tomorrow's dual at the Vardon Golf Club is at 10:00 am.
