SPEARFISH, SD – The hot start to the season for University of Mary women's golf continued at the BHSU Classic in South Dakota as the Marauders finished 2
nd out of 7 teams. Freshman
Annie Neva led the way with an impressive 163 (+19) to place in fifth at the event.
UMary entered the second round in third place, but a strong Tuesday across the board helped the team overtake the hosting Black Hills State University. After a 343 as a team on day 1, the Marauders cut 12 strokes on day 2 to shoot a 331.

Marion Hernandez. "Annie delivered another impressive performance, securing a top-5 individual spot in the field with Grace [Stroh] and Carrie [Carmichael] right behind."
Individually, Neva's second round 79 (+7) highlighted by three birdies propelled her to 5
th place after entering the day in 7
th. Behind her was junior
Grace Stroh, who shot a 165 (+21) to land in 6
th place.
Carrie Carmichael had a strong second round to finish with a 167 (+23) in 7
th place. Rounding out the scoring was freshman
Ruby Heydt in 23
rd place with a 180 (+36).
This is the Marauders' third consecutive top 2 finish to start the season. The team was victorious at the season-opening Tracy Lane Memorial Invitational in Bemidji, MN. Then placed 2
nd at the UJ Fall Invite in Jamestown, ND.

UMary will look to continue its hot start at home next week at the Marauders Tournament. Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck, ND, will host the meet on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
