SIOUX FALLS, SD – The offense struggled for the University of Mary softball team as UMary suffered a pair of 8-0 defeats to Augustana University in a doubleheader.
The Marauders recorded three hits over the two games, while the Vikings had 29 hits.
GAME 1 |AU – 8, UMary - 0
AU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Vikings added two runs in the third and one run in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead. AU walked the game off in the sixth inning, scoring two runs to earn an 8-0 win.
Whitney Carnes came on in relief in the third inning and pitched three innings while allowing only two runs.
Mckenzie Reinhardt and
Sariah Perez combined to record both Marauder hits.

GAME 2 |AU – 8, UMary - 0
A home run opened the bottom of the first inning for the Vikings. AU added another run in the second and exploded for five runs in the third inning. Andrea Cain finished the game off for the Vikings in the bottom of the fifth inning when she singled to center to score Liz Dierks to give AU an 8-0 win.
Hannah Chambers pitched two innings of relief and surrendered one earned run.
Jaraya Diaz recorded the only hit for UMary, smacking a single to center field.

The Marauders return to Bismarck, ND, to host their first home games of the season in a doubleheader against Minnesota State University Moorhead on Wednesday, April 10, with the first pitch scheduled for 1 pm at the University of Mary Softball Field.
