Sariah Perez's solid day at the plate was not enough for the University of Mary softball as the Marauders dropped their doubleheader 8-0, 7-2 to Minot State University.
GAME 1 |MSU – 8, UMary - 0
The Marauders bats struggled in the first game, with
Sariah Perez collecting the only UMary (7-23, 0-8 Northern Sun) hit.
Whitney Carnes came on to pitch in the bottom of the third inning and allowed only one run over three innings.
MSU (13-9, 8-2 NSIC) opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning and four in the third. The Beavers finished the game off in the bottom of the sixth inning when Anna LaCount doubled down the left field line to bring home Brooklyn Morrison and give MSU an 8-0 win.
GAME 2 |MSU – 7, UMary - 2
The Beavers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of action. The Marauders responded in the top of the fourth inning after
Sariah Perez smashed a triple down the left field line, scoring
Janine Warne.
Emily Schommer made the score 4-2 when she reached on an error which scored Perez.
UMary loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth inning. MSU managed to get out of the jam and the Marauders left three base runners stranded.
The Beavers put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring three runs and earning a 7-2 victory.
