Bergmann homers as Marauders fall to the Warriors

BISMARCK, ND – A home run by Janelle Bergmann would not be enough for the University of Mary softball team as the Marauders fell 10-0, 5-2 to Winona State University in a doubleheader.

GAME 1 |WSU – 10, UMary - 0
After a clean first inning, WSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. A three-run homer in the third inning and a solo home run in the fourth saw the Warriors extend their lead to 8-0. WSU added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to secure a 10-0 victory.

Mckenzie Reinhardt recorded the Marauders only hit when she smacked a single to left field. UMary had three batters reach base while WSU had 17 hitters reach base.

GAME 2 |WSU – 5, UMary - 2
The Marauders fell behind 3-0 to Warriors in the first inning. WSU added a run in the third and fourth innings to take a 5-0 lead.

UMary responded in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sariah Perez smashed a double off the fence. Janelle Bergmann then smoked a ball over the left field wall to make it a 5-2 ballgame.

The Marauders were able to bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh but the Warriors managed to get out of the jam and win 5-2.

UMary had seven batters reach base while WSU had 15.
