MINOT, ND - Outstanding performances by Reece Barnhardt and Luke Tweeton see them punch their ticket to the 2024 NCAA Division II wrestling championships after taking home the gold at the NCAA Super Regional V.

The University of Mary wrestling team had a school record nine student-athletes place in the top six at the Super Regional V. Overall, UMary finished fourth in the team standings with a team score of 101.5.

#5 Reece Barnhardt (133) started things off with an 8-0 major decision victory over Upper Iowa's James Davis. The Bismarck, ND, native advanced to the finals after he pinned Minot State's Wayne Joint at the 6:31 mark. Barnhardt won the Super Regional V 133-pound weight class after his opponent forfeited in the final.

#7 Luke Tweeton (285) opened his day by defeating Northern State's Nathan Shauer by a 2-1 sudden victory. Tweeton then qualified for nationals after he defeated Minnesota State University's Tanner Gaffney by a 3-2 decision victory in overtime. The Frazee, MN, native won the title in dominant fashion, winning an 11-1 major decision over Parkside's Lloyd Reynolds.

Jaden Verhagen placed 4^th after competing well but falling to St. Cloud's #7 Conor Knopick by a 10-3 decision in the third-place match. Verhagen started with a pinfall victory over UIU's Treyton Ackman at the 0:57 mark. Verhagen then lost a close match to Augustana's #2 Jaxson Roman by a 7-6 decision. The Kaukauna, WI, native got back on track by pinning Southwest Minnesota State's Carlo Arreola at the 2:37 mark.

#9 Max Bruss finished off his stellar career at UMary with a 4^th place finish after falling to #7 Cole Glazier by a 9-5 decision in the third-place match. Bruss defeated MSU's Drake Hayward by an 8-2 decision to kick things off. He fell to NSU's #3 Seth Brossard in his next match. Bruss rallied back to defeat AU's Coy Gunderson by an 8-6 decision after the De Pere, WI, native scored a late reversal and a four-point near fall.

#8 Braydon Huber finished his tremendous Marauders career by defeating MSU's Caleb Meunier by an 11-4 decision to take 5^th place. The two-time All-American kicked things off with an impressive 3-1 decision victory over AU's #7 Connor Simmonds. Huber's defeats came to SCSU's #1 Nick Novak (2-0 decision) and UIU's #10 Eric Faught (3-2 decision).

#9 Wyatt Lidberg placed 5^th after defeating SMSU's Adam Sylvester by a 7-0 decision. Lidberg opened by defeating Minot's Cayden White by a 10-1 major decision. The Albertville, MN, native two losses were close defeats to AU's #4 Cade Mueller (2-1 via tiebreaker) and UIU's #11 Colter Bye.

#7 Matthew Kaylor finished 5^th after he defeated NSU's Treyton Cacek by an 11-6 decision. Kaylor's first match saw him pin MSU's Shane Gibson at the 1:56 mark. The Bismarck, ND, native lost to Minot's Cannon Potts by a 7-6 decision. Kaylor came back by tech falling USF's Isaiah Laguna at the 4:16 mark and then defeating UIU's Cameron Lopez by an 8-1 decision.

Kaden Renner finished 6^th after falling to #8 Wyatt Turnquist in the 5^th place match. Renner went 3-3 on the day. The Bismarck, ND, native earned victories over MSU's Isaiah Misna (18-6 major decision, MSU Moorhead's Gunner Mogen (4-2 decision) and Minot's Ryan Hrcka (4-2 decision).

Kaden DeCoteau took 6^th place after losing a 7-0 decision to Braydon Mogle in the 5^th place match. DeCoteau recorded a pinfall victory over MSU's Trayton Anderson at the 5:29 mark.
