BRANDON, SD – Impressive starts by
Paxton Miller and
Jaxon Zanolli combined with clutch hitting led the University of Mary to a Northern Sun doubleheader sweep of Concordia-St. Paul. The Marauders won the opener 7-2 before claiming game two 13-2.

Marauders starting pitcher
Paxton Miller limited the Golden Bears to one run in five innings as UMary captured game one 7-2. The senior righthander struck out five and while holding the CSP bats to four hits to earn his second win of the season.
The Marauders ripped three doubles in the first inning to score two runs.
Kalem Haney led off with a double before scoring on a two-bagger by
Josh Walker.
Carter Beck ripped a shot to right field to score Walker.
After CSP scored a run in the fourth to cut the UMary lead in half, the Marauders scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to jump ahead 7-1 as Walked singled home two runs and Beck clubbed a 3-run home run to right center.
The Golden Bears made a run in the seventh, scoring on a wild pitch and loading the bases without an out being recorded.
Mark Schommer then stepped into the fray with aplomb, striking out three straight batters to close out the Marauders win.
Walker finished 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Beck doubled, homered, scored once and drove in four runs with a 2-for-3 performance.
Dylan Edmands also had two hits.
GAME 2 | UMary 13 CSP 2
Posting four multi-run innings and scoring the final 11 runs of the game, the Marauders downed the Golden Bears 13-2 to finish the doubleheader sweep.
The Marauders broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the third inning.
Krece Papierski gave the Marauders a 3-2 lead with a run-scoring single in the third.
Michael Polson followed with a 2-run single and
Carter Shin delivered a run scoring single for a 6-2 lead.
Noah Hull and Shin both had 2-run singles in a 5-run fourth inning. Polson blasted a 2-run home run in the 5
th inning to close out the scoring in a game shortened by the 10-run rule to seven innings.
Striking out eight in five innings, Zanolli earned his first win of the season. The sophomore lefthander limited the Golden Bears to two runs on three hits.
Kevin Millar pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game, striking out three without allowing a hit.
Polson finished 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs. Papierski was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Shin drove in three runs and was 3-for-4.
Ben Prediger hit a 2-run home run.
Noah Hull scored a run and drove in two.
Daniel Martin has two hits and scored twice. Haney and Beck both had a hit and scored twice.
The Marauders (9-7 overall, 5-2 NSIC), who have won the first three games of the 4-game-series, and the Golden Bears (11-5, 3-4) wrap up the weekend with a single 9-inning game on Saturday, March 16. Game time is 12 noon at Aspen Park in Brandon, SD.
