CLERMONT, FL – The University of Mary softball team kicked off their Florida spring games with defeats to the University of Findlay (10-1) and the University of Charleston (5-1). UMary (3-8 overall) returns to Clermont, FL, on Thursday, February 29, to challenge the University of Findlay at 10 am and Montana State University Billings at 12:15 pm.
GAME 1 RECAP
UF jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings. The Oilers added five more runs over the next four innings to take a 10-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning.
Ariana Retuta got the Marauders on the board after she came home to score off a UF error. UMary failed to add on any more runs and fell 10-1 after six innings. The Marauders finished the game with two hits and five walks.

Jaraya Diaz went 1-for-2 with one HBP
GAME 2 RECAP
UC held a 5-0 lead after four innings.
Emily Schommer put UMary on the board in the top of the fifth when she smashed a double to left center, bringing home Retuta.
Emari Evans pitched a clean fifth and sixth inning as the game finished with a 5-1 Golden Eagles win.
