EMPORIA, KS - A solo home run by
Mckenzie Reinhardt was not enough as the University of Mary softball team fell 9-1 to Emporia State University.
ESU grabbed an early 1-0 lead after the first inning and added seven more runs over the next three to take an 8-0 lead.
Whitney Carnes came on in relief in the fourth inning and recorded the last two outs, only allowing one walk.
Reinhardt got the Marauders on the board in the top of the fifth inning as she smoked a home run down the left-field line to make it an 8-1 game.
A sac fly to center field saw the Hornets add one run in the bottom of the fifth, winning the game 9-1.
