BISMARCK, ND – The #13 University of Mary wrestling team battled hard but came up short against #5 St. Cloud State University 23-13. UMary is now 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the Northern Sun.
 
#8 Luke Tweeton (285) opened the dual with a 2-0 shutout victory over Elijah Novak.
 
Jaden Verhagen (125) trailed #7 Conor Knopick 4-1 late in the third period. Verhagen would score a takedown with 12 seconds left and then get a four-point near fall to earn a huge 8-5 decision win.
 
#5 Reece Barnhardt (133) put on a dominant performance, winning a 12-4 major decision. #11 Wyatt Lidberg (184) took down Tyson Meyer by a 7-3 decision.
 
The Marauders next competition is the NCAA DII Super Regional V hosted in Minot, ND, on March 2 at 10 am. UMary will send ten wrestlers to compete in the tournament, with the top three wrestlers in each weight class advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
