EMPORIA, KS - Four hits from Jaraya Diaz were not enough for the University of Mary softball team (2-4) as the Marauders fell to Maryville University 9-2 and Rockhurst University 10-1.
GAME ONE RECAP
The Marauders fell behind 1-0 to start their game against MU. Diaz responded in the top of the second inning by driving in
Francesca Villaneda with a double to left field.
The Saints added one run in the second inning and three runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. Diaz would again get the Marauders on the board in the fourth inning after the
Los Cruces, NM, native smashed a home run to left field.
MU scored four more runs over the next three innings, winning 9-2. UMary had 11 runners reach base, eight on hits and three on walks but left nine runners on base.           Â

GAME TWO RECAP
RU opened the scoring by recording three runs in the second inning. Janelle Bergman got UMary on the board when she drove in Villaneda after she doubled to left.
The Hawks added six more runs in the third inning and one more in the fifth inning to win 10-1 after five.
UMary struggled to drive home runners as seven Marauders were left stranded on the base paths.
Whitney Carnes made her Marauders debut by pitching one shutout inning and striking out a batter.
