MARSHALL, MN – The #16 University of Mary wrestling (1-0, 1-0 NSIC) cruised to a 31-12 dual victory on the road against Southwest Minnesota State University in their conference opener.
In the first dual match of his career,
Mason Gutenberger (125 pounds) pinned Preston Xayachak at the 1:49 mark. Not to be outdone, #2
Reece Barnhardt (133 pounds) earned himself a pinfall victory in 2:16 minutes of action against Adam Polansky.
Sean Solis (141 pounds) came out on fire, winning via techfall over Dylan Louwagie at the 4:41 mark.
Trae Thilmony (149 pounds) won a 13-3 major decision against Jacob Messner.
Aidyn Mitchell (285 pounds) was impressive in his 9-0 major decision victory over Evan Thompson. #14
Wyatt Lidberg (174 pounds) took down a 12-8 decision victory against Elijah Sterner.
A literal last-second takedown was the difference for
Marco Reyes (197 pounds) as the Lonsdale, MN, native secured a takedown with 0:01 remaining to win 5-4 over Kody Marschner.
The Marauders return to action on Saturday, December 7, as they take part in the Dragon Open.
