BISMARCK, ND – A fast start by the #16 University of Mary wrestling team (1-1, 1-1 NSIC) would not be enough as the Marauders fell 26-10 in their dual to #3 Parkside Rangers.

Mason Gutenberger (125 pounds) electrified the crowd in the opening match when the freshman scored a pinfall victory over #4 Shane Corrigan after 2:06 of action. Gutenberger is now 2-0 in his dual career, winning both by pinfall.

#2 Reece Barnhardt (133 pounds) was dominant in his matchup against #8 Matthew Chi, winning a 15-3 major decision to give UMary a 10-0 lead.

The next match at 141 pounds saw a thrilling contest as #3 Cayden Henschel just edged out Sean Solis by a 5-4 decision.

Lane Ewing (151 pounds) wrestled hard but fell short in a 5-1 decision against #3 Ben Durocher. Another hard-fought contest at 184 pounds saw Dante Roggio score an early takedown but could not overcome #3 Reece Worachek, losing an 8-4 decision.

#12 Matthew Kalor (197 pounds) wrestled his first match of the season, falling by a 2-0 decision to Chase Stegall. #3 Luke Tweeton (285 pounds) fell by a 5-1 decision to #7 Lloyd Reynolds to finish of the dual.

The Marauders return home against Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sunday, January 5, at 5 pm in the McDowell Activity Center.
