BISMARCK, ND – University of Mary Marauders Athletics proudly announces the addition of the James A. Hauer United Printing Golf Performance Center for the men's and women's golf programs. A generous lead gift from James Hauer, on behalf of United Printing, enabled the University of Mary to establish its newest athletic performance space inside the UMary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center.
"We are thrilled for our scholar-athletes to see the golf performance center come to fruition," said Marcus Wagner, University of Mary director of intercollegiate athletics. "The generosity of the Hauer family is evident across our campus, and this project is just one more example. We are incredibly grateful to Jimmy and his family and are excited for the future of Marauders Golf."
The nearly 1,000-square-foot center, located within the UMary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center, is being developed in two phases. The initial phase, already completed, includes an indoor golf simulator with best-in-class GCQuad Launch Monitor technology from Foresight Sports, along with designated spaces for short-game and putting practice. The second phase, scheduled for summer 2025, will add scholar-athlete lockers, expand the short-game and putting areas, and potentially include a scholar-athlete lounge.
"The investment into this space is a direct investment into the lives and experiences of our scholar-athletes," said Wagner. "The addition of the James A. Hauer United Printing Golf Performance Center transforms the landscape of Marauders Golf, providing our scholar-athletes with year-round, high-quality practice opportunities regardless of the weather. This resource is vital as we strive to elevate our women's and men's golf programs within the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and the NCAA."
The UMary men recorded five top-10 individual finishes in open meets this fall. The UMary women posted two tournament wins and had 10 top-10 finishes, with
Carrie Carmichael earning medalist honors twice.
The UMary women return to action this spring at the SMSU Challenge on March 13-14 in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The men will compete at the Minnesota State Spring Invitational on March 10-11 in Goodyear, Arizona.
