Pfau's career night leads Marauders to dominant 89-69 victory over the Beavers

BISMARCK, ND – A career night from Chloe Pfau led the University of Mary women's basketball team (4-3, 1-2 Northern Sun) to a dominant 89-69 victory over in-state rivals Minot State University (2-9, 1-3 NSIC).

Pfau recorded a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from three. The West Fargo, ND, native also contributed three assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Bergan Kinnebrew dropped 17 points, shooting 9-of-10 from the free throw line, and dished out four assists. Anna Lenzen shot 4-of-6 from the field to give her 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds off the bench.

Ryleigh Wacha recorded nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Moriku Hakim had seven points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench.

The first quarter was competitive as UMary held a 24-20 lead over MSU. The Marauders defense dominated in the second half, outscoring the Beavers 19-5 to take a 43-25 lead going into halftime.

The Marauders maintained their lead in the third quarter and extended it to as much as 32 points in the fourth, resulting in an 89-69 UMary victory.

UMary recorded a 48.4 shooting percentage from the field and went 11-of-31 from three, while MSU shot 41.1 percent from the field, going 9-of-22 from behind the arc. The Marauders went 18-of-28 from the charity stripe, while the Beavers shot 14-of-22 from the free-throw line. UMary won the rebounding battle 40-31 over MSU.

The Marauders travel to Crookston, MN, to take on the University of Minnesota Crookston (4-5, 2-1 NSIC) on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 pm.
