UMary women’s golf finishes third at Briarwood Shootout

BILLINGS, MT – The University of Mary women's golf team made day 2 strides at the Briarwood Shootout in Billings, MT, finishing third at the tournament. The 12-stroke improvement as a team was highlighted by Junior Grace Stroh, whose 167 (+23) placed her just outside the top 10.

As a team, the Marauders shot a 686 (+110), with Stroh placing highest individually at 11th. Freshman Ruby Heydt had her strongest performance of the year with a 171 (+27) to place 15th. Junior Carrie Carmichael was one stroke behind Heydt with a 172 (+28). Rounding out the team scoring was junior Abby Thelen with a 176 (+32).

"It was a tough course this weekend," said fourth-year head coach Marion Hernandez. "But Grace [Stroh]'s consistent performance was a bright spot as she led us throughout. We made improvements after the first day, but ultimately gave away too many strokes to climb the leaderboard."

Up next for the Marauders is a trip to South Dakota for the USF Invitational. Hernandez has a good outlook on the upcoming tournament.

"The Sioux Falls tournament should be a good course for us to finish strong," said Hernandez. "We look forward to capping off our Fall schedule with a strong finish."
