BILLINGS, MT – University of Mary men's golf had four athletes place in the top-20 at the Briarwood Shootout in Billings, MT, led by freshman
Lucas Schoepp. The team as a whole placed fifth at the tournament.
After a difficult first day, the Marauders improved their score by 12 strokes on the second day. UMary's total was 624 (+48) after a 306 on day 2. Individually, two members of the B team led the Marauders. Schoepp, who is originally from Bismarck, ND, placed 13
th with a 151 (+7) with four birdies across the two days.
Behind him and also on the B team was fellow freshman
Quinn Breidenbach, who shot a 154 (+10) to place 17
th. On the A team and tied for 19
th were
Gavin Argent and
Evan Booth at 155 (+11). Argent had a 9-stroke improvement on the second day, which was the second best in the field.
"Much better day today," said third-year head coach
Laif Olson. "The A team improved 12 shots from the first day. Both A and B team found momentum to take to our last tournament of the fall."

The fall season concludes for UMary next week at the USF Invitational in Larchwood, IA, at the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Course. The tournament will take place Oct. 14 and 15.
