BISMARCK, ND – A back-and-forth battle resulted in the University of Mary volleyball team losing in heartbreaking fashion against Bemidji State University in four sets (22-25, 25-15, 25-23, 31-29) on senior night.

The Marauders got off to a good start, winning the first set 25-22.
Gabby Caskey recorded the set-winning kill off an assist by
Maddy Freed.
BSU (7-12, 2-9 NSIC) was dominant in the second set, winning 25-15. UMary held a 23-19 lead in the third set. The lead for the Marauders would not last as the Beavers went on a 6-0 run to win the set 25-23.
The fourth set was exciting as both teams exchanged leads late. UMary had five opportunities to serve for set point but failed to capitalize. Three straight kills by BSU sealed the set 31-29 and secured the match for the Beavers.
UMary recorded 53 kills on a .167 hitting percentage, while BSU posted 66 kills on a .275 attack percentage. The Beavers had ten blocks to the Marauders seven.

Maddie Cooper recorded 14 kills on an excellent .333 hitting percentage.
Kaia Sueker put up 25 digs.
Charli Blackman had 13 kills and 11 digs.
Maddy Freed posted 50 assists.
Holli Klettheimer had eight kills and four blocks.
Karina Hixon recorded 12 digs.
Gabby Caskey had nine kills and two blocks.
Reyna Isenbart had seven kills and zero attacking errors.

The Marauders are on the road in St. Cloud, MN, to challenge St. Cloud State University on Friday, November 1, at 6 pm. UMary then goes to Duluth, MN, to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, November 2, at 2 pm.
