ABERDEEN, SD – The University of Mary swimming & diving team improved to 3-1 on the season after defeating Northern State University in a dual 140-73.
The team of
Madeline Desmond,
Elise Altringer,
Maria Strong and
Michaela Desmond kicked things off for the Marauders, winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:53.92.
Samantha Sheridan continued her excellent start to the season as she won the 1000 Yard Freestyle, recording a time of 11:05.05. Sheridan then took down the 500 yard freestyle (5.24.22) while her teammate
Amber Norgaard (5:36.72) took second.
Peyton Wunderlich (24.81),
Madeline Desmond (25.95) and
Sarah Bernasconi (26.21) each took the top three spots in the 50 yard freestyle. Wunderlich also was victorious in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.34.
Maria Strong posted a time of 1:00.53 to win the 100 Yard Backstroke.
Elise Altringer took first place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.12.
Sophie Pellegrino (1:13.77) finished runner-up.
Finishing off the meet for UMary was the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of Wunderlich, Norgaard,
Felicity McCallen and
Teresa Cavanaugh won after recording a time of 1:44.51.
The Marauders' next meet is the Knight Invite, hosted by Jamestown University in Jamestown, ND, which begins on Friday, November 1, and concludes on Saturday, November 2.
