LARCHWOOD, IA – University of Mary men's golf senior captain
Gavin Argent completed a stellar fall season with a fourth-place finish at the USF Invitational. As a team, the Marauders placed 7
th at the Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood, IA.
Argent shot an even par 72 on both days of the event and hit eight birdies in total to earn his fourth top 10 finish of the season. All three golfers ahead of him represented Winona State University, who won the meet as a team.
"We played better today on day 2 and had the fourth-best score today," said third-year head coach
Laif Olson. "
Gavin Argent tied for fourth in the tournament and his scoring average is the lowest we've had in the fall season for golf. Really good tournament for him."
One of the highlights of the tournament was
Evan Booth's pair of eagles. In round 1, Booth eagled a par 4 hole 1 from 92 yards out and went on to birdie the next three holes. On day 2, Booth eagled a par 5 13
th hole.
In total, Booth finished with a 152 (+8) to land in 23
rd on the leaderboard. Behind him,
Quinn Breidenbach and
Aiden Knodel rounded out the scoring by each finishing with a 157 (+13) in a tie for 37
th. On the B team,
Lucas Greenlun also eagled the 13
th hole and nearly had a double eagle from 206 yards out earlier on the same hole.
The three eagles for UMary only trailed Minot State's four at the tournament.
