Hammah earns first collegiate victory, UMary men’s cross country second at Marauders Open

BISMARCK, ND – Highlighted by three top-10 finishes and freshman Gideon Hammah's first victory as a collegiate athlete, the University of Mary men's cross country team finished second at the Marauders Open. The meet, which was held at McDowell Dam in Bismarck, ND, is the final one in the regular season for UMary.

As a team, the Marauders accumulated 37 points, just 6 behind the victorious Northern State University. Hammah's time of 24:49.7 topped the leaderboard. He was closely followed in 2nd by his sophomore teammate Andrew Scheer (24:51.4), who won the season-opening Marauders Invite at McDowell Dam several weeks ago.

Also placing in the top 10 in 10th was freshman Lance Bradley with a time of 26:12.8. Bradley's fellow freshman Kaden Mattson (26:24.3) scored for the Marauders for the first time in 14th. Junior transfer Raine Skjod (26:25.0) rounded out the team scoring in 15th.

Up next for the Marauders will be the NSIC Championships in Minot, ND. Souris Valley Golf Course will host the meet on Oct. 26 at 10am. Last year, the Marauders finished 6th at the conference championships.
