Rozell drains game-winner as Marauders down Golden Bears 60-57 to complete weekend road sweep

ST. PAUL, MN – A clutch three-pointer by Addison Rozell was the difference for the University of Mary women's basketball as the Marauders extended their winning streak to five games by beating Concordia University, St. Paul 60-57.

With UMary trailing by one with just over a minute to go, Megan Zander found Rozell open in the corner as the Redfield, SD, native hit a critical three-pointer to give UMary a 59-57 lead. The Marauders defense stood tall the next two possessions, culminating in Lexie Schneider securing a rebound and getting fouled with just three seconds remaining.

The Appleton, WI, native went 1-of-2 from the free throw line, giving CSP one more chance to tie the game. Schneider made up for her missed free throw by delivering the game-winning block and grabbing the rebound, securing a UMary win.

It was a historic win for Marauders head coach Rick Neumann as he earned his 171st win at the University of Mary, surpassing Fred Fridley for second all-time in team history. Neumann succeeded Fridley as the Marauders head coach in 2012. The duo worked side-by-side for nine seasons during Fridley's tenure as head coach. The record for wins is 234 by Roger Haug.

The victory secured a weekend sweep by the Marauders over two of the top teams in the NSIC standings, the University of Minnesota Duluth on Friday followed by a win over the Golden Bears.
