Dropik delivers as the #10 Marauders down the Warriors 7-1

ALBERT LEA, MN – Derek Dropik led a trio of #10 University of Mary skaters with three-point games in a decisive 7-1 win at Waldorf University. Dropik had a pair of goals and an assist as the Marauders grew their lead atop Midwest College Hockey.
 
The Marauders improve to 20-9-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOW-SOL) overall and 12-2-0-0-1 in MCH play. UMary leads the MCH with 43 points (University of Jamestown is in 2nd place with 38 points). Waldorf is 3-20-3-0 overall and 2-12-1 for 6th place in he MCH with eight points.
 
The Marauders struck twice in less than six minutes to start the game. Luke Schluesner found the back of the net at 4:42 and Teddy Lillico followed at 5:49 for an early 2-0 lead. Waldorf scored halfway through the first period to cut the Warriors deficit in half before Dropik scored at 15:26 to send the Marauders into the first intermission leading 3-1.
 
The goals kept coming for the Marauders in the second period as UMary overwhelmed Waldorf. Liam Massie opened the floodgates at 3:01 before Garrett Freeman posted his 100th career points at 5:59. Isaiah Thomas (12:10) and Dropik (13:16) both scored shorthanded goals to cap the scoring.
 
Neither team scored in the third period.
 
Conan Hayton made 21 saves in the game. Nelson Schiller stopped 27 of 32 shots he faced before Gage Reimer entered the game and saved 21 of the 33 shots placed on net. Waldorf goaltenders stopped 58 shots overall.
 
Neither team could score on the power play. UMary was 0-for-5 and Waldorf was 0-for-3.
 
Dropik finished with two goals and an assist. Freeman and Thomas had a goal and two assists. Andrew Huber had two assists.  
 
The two teams conclude their weekend series on Saturday, January 27, when the puck between the Marauders and Warriors drops at 7:30 pm.
