Marauders comeback attempt falls short to Beavers Friday night

BEMIDJI, MN - A comeback effort ultimately came up short Friday night in the BSU Gymnasium for the UMary Volleyball team. The Marauders fell in a team effort to an improved Bemidji State team 3-0 (9-25, 16-25, 18-25).

Set one belonged to the Beavers (5-6, 2-1 NSIC) as a five-point run in the beginning and a seven-point run in the end paced them for a 25-9 set victory over the Marauders (4-7, 0-3 NSIC).

UMary made very quick adjustments in the early goings of set two, with Reyna Isenbart and Alexandria Harper leading the way to a 15-18 score with multiple kills. Bemidji State caught momentum late again, however, gaining the next 7 of 8 points to take a two-set advantage with a 25-16 win.

The Marauders showed no signs of quit in set three and stayed within reach behind multiple kills from Harper, Nehkyah Ellis, and Maddie Cooper. The Beavers' Ashley Crowl took command on the attack, however, gaining 5 of her game-high 10 kills in the third and final set as Bemidji State ended the contest with a 25-18 victory.
