Marauders Clays Makes Successful Debut at Fall Shootout

BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary clays team kicked off their competitive journey at the Capital City Gun Club in Bismarck, ND, where the Marauders got their first chance in school history to showcase their dedication and ability on the range at the BSC Fall Shootout.
 
In the High Overall (HOA) category, UMary's Myra Arvig distinguished herself, securing a remarkable 2nd place among female competitors. Arvig's sharp eye and steady hand guided her to a score of 92 out of 100 clays, an accomplishment that exemplifies her commitment to excellence in the sport.
 
Meanwhile, Garrett Callens made his way onto the leaderboard, tying for 4th place in the HOA male category. Callens showcased exceptional marksmanship, hitting an amazing 96 out of 100 clays. His achievement shows the depth of talent on the UMary clays team.
 
As a cohesive unit, the University of Mary claimed 5th place in the team standings, further emphasizing their commitment to supporting each other. Their combined score of 421 out of 500 targets reflects their collective determination.
 
Joining Arvig and Callens in contributing to the team scoring was Matt Ingels, Brody Porsborg, and Abraham Luedtke.
 
Also competing for the Marauders in the program's debut match was Janine Warne, Jayden Pomarleau, Peyton Barstow, Sophia Cicchinelli and John Burr.
 
Looking forward, UMary Clays Head Coach Mark Sandness emphasized that this event was only the beginning of their journey. He expressed his confidence in the team's potential and their capacity to refine their skills with each competition.
 
The next challenge awaiting the Marauders is the 4th annual North Dakota State Bison Blast, scheduled for September 23 in Horace, ND. This event offers another opportunity for UMary to sharpen its skills and apply the lessons learned from the Capital City Gun Club event.
