BISMARCK, ND – The MAC was packed for the first University of Mary Volleyball match of the 2023 season on Friday night. Though hyping up the capacity crowd throughout the night, the Marauders fell to the #7 team in the nation Minnesota Duluth 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-14).Â
The Bulldogs (8-1, 1-0 NSIC) enjoyed a quick start to the first set by gaining the first five points. The Marauders (4-5, 0-1 NSIC) continued to battle through the middle of the set keeping a close score of 15-11. The Bulldogs went on two more impressive runs, garnering 10 of the next 11 points for a 25-12 set victory to start the night strong.Â
Alexandria Harper strung together 3 impressive kills from the middle early in the second set.
Kameron Selvig also dished out 7 assists through the second set, but the Bulldogs increased their set advantage to 2-0 after another 25-12 win.Â
Nine players contributed points in set three as the Marauders fought to stay alive in the match. Cianna Selbitschka swung for 8 of her 16 total kills to lead the Bulldogs to victory, finishing off the Marauders 25-14 in the third and final set.Â
The Bulldogs excelled on the attack, swinging for a combined 0.488 hitting percentage and 48 total kills.Â
