MINOT, ND – The University of Mary baseball team bashed its way to a doubleheader sweep at Minot State University to open the Highway 83 weekend series between the Marauders and the Beavers.
Josh Walker hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs as UMary downed Minot State 14-7 in the opener before three Marauders hit home runs in a 10-3 nightcap win.

Josh Walker crushed two home runs and drove in six suns to lead the Marauders 10-hit attack in a 14-7 win over Minot State University. The Marauders centerfielder hit a 3-run home run in the 3
rd inning, a 2-run shot in the 5
th inning and walked to force in a run.
The Marauders scored at least one run in each of the last five innings to pull away from the Beavers, who had scored the first four runs of the game. Both teams had 10 hits but the Marauders gained seven baserunners from walks and hit batsman to one for the Beavers.
Austin Wagner earned his fifth win of the season for the Marauders, including wins in back to back games. He struck out six and allowed just one walk, three earned runs and seven hits in five innings. Wagner picked up the win with an inning of relief in UMary's 5-4 win over Northern State on Wednesday.
PIVOT POINT
Down four runs entering the top of the 3
rd inning, UMary parlayed two hits, a defensive miscue, and two walks into six unearned runs. After
Will Brassil led off with a double, a fielder's choice and a walk, an error on a ground ball by
Derek Shoen scored UMary's first two runs. After a sacrifice fly by
Krece Papierski, Walker blasted a 3-run home run and give the Marauders a 6-4 lead they would never relinquish.

Marauders starting pitcher
Halen Knoll kept the Beavers in line for seven innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk as UMary kept building on an early lead to claim a second straight Northern Sun doubleheader sweep.
In earning his third win of the season, Knoll limited the Beavers to five hits and three runs, all-earned. Johnathan Draheim and
Liam Sommer both tossed a pair of scoreless innings, facing three hitters each.
The Marauders hit three home runs in the game, one each by
Kyle Jameson,
Cal James and
Noah Hull. Both Jameson and Hull finished with three hits.
PIVOT POINT
Holding a 2-1 lead after five innings, the Marauders scored three runs in the sixth inning to grab a commanding and insurmountable lead. With the bases loaded and two down on an error, a walk and a single and the wind blowing out,
Daniel Martin hit a high popup into short centerfield. With the runners off on the pitch and the Beavers unable to catch the ball, three unearned runs scored on the single.
Ben Prediger cross the plate last for UMary with a spectacular slide eluding the Minot State catcher to the inside part pf the plate.
UMary added to its lead with two more runs in the seventh and three in the ninth inning.
