BISMARCK, ND - Following an overtime win by the UMary Men's Basketball team, the University of Mary Women's Basketball team (12-8, 11-6 NSIC) sent the MAC fans home happy with a 76-60 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston (10-13, 9-8 NSIC) Friday night. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Marauders, and rectified a 64-78 loss to the Golden Eagles on New Year's Eve earlier this season.
Addison Rozell and
Ryleigh Wacha led the way for the Marauders, both scoring 17 points and shooting a combined 15-21 (71.4%) from the field.Â
The game got off to a fast start with both teams trading the lead five times for a 24-23 score at the end of the first quarter. UMary and Crookston were neck and neck shooting the rock 9-17 each from the field.
Ryleigh Wacha was a perfect 4-4 with 8 points in the first ten minutes.Â
Addison Rozell hit one of her three treys on the game at the 8:00 mark in the second quarter, giving the Marauders a 32-29 lead which they held onto for the rest of the game. UMary created separation from the Golden Eagles in the second, outscoring them 21-13 to enter halftime with a 45-36 lead.Â
The third quarter saw the Marauders further grow a comfortable lead with a handful of runs and a 62-46 score heading into the final ten minutes of the contest. The Marauders did a good job limiting Emma Miller, the no. two scorer in the NSIC, through the two middle frames after Miller put up nine points to start the game.Â
A 6-0 run started the fourth quarter for the Marauders on the way to a 76-60 win to start off the final full home weekend in the McDowell Activity Center this season. UMary outshot Crookston 47.0% to 39.7% and forced 17 turnovers by the Golden Eagles, 10 of which were by steals. Though they were outrebounded 38-39, UMary was strong inside scoring 48 points in the paint, and also enjoyed 21 points off the bench.Â

Addison Rozell hit another career-high mark in points with 17 while shooting 7-9 (77.8%) Friday night. The sophomore forward from Redfield, SD also grabbed eight rebounds and had a block and a steal defensively.Â
Ryleigh Wacha was another major player with 17 points while shooting 8-12 (66.7%). The versatile sophomore guard from Fargo, ND also had six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal.Â
Megan Zander was solid in a 14-point performance. She also had eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal.Â
Reese Wishart led a spark off the bench with eight points, three boards, two assists, and a steal.Â
