DENVER –
Kalem Haney posted a pair of doubles for the University of Mary in the Marauders final contest of a 5-game trip to Colorado. After a pair of strong offensive performances against #23 Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday, the Marauders were limited to just three hits as the Roadrunners wrapped up a 3-game sweep of UMary 10-0.
A redshirt freshman, Haney had two of the Marauders three hits in the game. The second baseman doubled in both the third and sixth innings. Playing in four of the Marauders last five games, Haney is 6-for-13 with four doubles, three runs scored and seven RBIs.
Cal James had a triple for the Marauders other hit.
The Roadrunners scored two runs in the second and added another four in the third to build an insurmountable 7-0 lead. Cody Schultz and Zach Schuler both had three hits for the Roadrunners and Jack Slominski pitched a complete game, striking out eight without walking a batter.
The Marauders next visit Truman State University for a 4-game series March 3-5 in Kirksville, MO, to wrap up UMary's non-conference schedule.
