BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary placed six scholar-athletes on the 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators. Earning Academic All-District honors for the Marauders are
MaLiah Burke,
Olivia Gardner,
Kira Hockley,
Andi Hunsicker,
Mo Malone and
Rio Spruenken.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top scholar-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom and are selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America / CoSIDA). To be nominated, a scholar-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
Burke is a sophomore forward from Minot, ND, majoring in Biology with a Pre-Med concentration.
A sophomore forward from Winona, MN, Gardner is majoring in Marketing.
A sophomore midfielder from Yeovil, England, Hockley is majoring in Exercise Science.
Hunsicker is a junior forward from Douglas, WY, who is a Physical Education major.
Malone is a junior defender from Placentia, CA, who is pursuing a Business Administration degree.
Spruenken, a Biology major with a Pre-Med concentration, is a sophomore midfielder from Krefeld, NRW, Germany.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
